CUSP-GX 8093A: Data Visualization
I was hired by Dr. Qi Sun as a course assistant for NYU’s CUSP-GX 8093A - Data Visualization course. As this was my second time TA-ing for an academic lecture, I was able to transfer many of the skills I learned from my first TA experience into this job.
Very similar to that first experience, I held typical responsibilities such as superivising Office Hours and the occasional recitation sessions. The major change here was that I was responsible for formulating all assignment instructions and grading criteria. This represents a major shift where some courses at NYU feature a smaller number of TAs that host a wider range of responsibilities. These responsibilities saw that I also help to manage student projects and oversee their progress across the semester.
Responsibilities
- Prepared Python notebooks, instructions, and grading guidelines for homework and project materials
- Supervised weekly Office Hours sessions to advise students on programming and project-related questions
